ISIS destroyed thousands of years of Mosul's history. See how it's being rebuilt

Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, is rising from the ashes after it was almost completely destroyed by the battle to liberate it from ISIS.

During the years ISIS occupied the city, it tried to erase thousands of years of Mosul’s rich history, culture and diversity.

The UNESCO, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this week, is undertaking an ambitious reconstruction project.

CNN’s Jomana Karadsheh reports.
