said that "immediate food assistance”

worst hunger crisis on record.".
Despite a significant amount of food
aid reaching families in recent months,
19.7 million children and adults, almost 50%
of the population, are still going hungry
and need urgent support to survive, Save the Children report, via Al Jazeera.
Al Jazeera reports that Afghanistan has been cut off from international financial services since August 15 when the Taliban took over the country.
Nearly $10 billion of the country's assets
were frozen by the United States,
triggering a nationwide banking crisis.
