Rishi Sunak to ‘get a grip on inflation’ before tax cuts
Former Chancellor Rishi Sunak says if he were prime minister his number one priority would be to "get a grip on inflation" and then "deliver tax cuts".
The Conservative leadership candidate promised he would abide by a ‘pro-growth policy’ to deliver jobs and opportunities across the country on a campaign visit in Teesside.

Rishi Sunak insisted Israel has our "full support" as he condemned Iran's attack on Israel. It comes as Iran launched over 300 drones and missiles in an attack on Israel on Saturday night. The prime minister said the UK is urging Israel to show restraint.
"We are working urgently with our allies to de escalate the situation and prevent further bloodshed. We want to see calmer heads prevail," he added.

Rishi Sunak said the conflict in Gaza "must end" as he addressed MPs in the House of Commons. The prime minister said he will be speaking to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to express solidarity and to discuss how we can prevent further escalation. "Nothing that has happened over the last 48 hours affects our position on Gaza. The whole country wants to see an end to the bloodshed and to see more humanitarian support going in," he added.

Foreign secretary Lord Cameron said he is "confident" the Rwanda bill will be passed by parliament this week. The legislation which is set to be passed declares Rwanda a safe country - after the Supreme Court blocked an earlier plan in November.
"If you can't send them directly back to France, the best thing to do is find another answer where people who come to Britain in that way can't stay in Britain. That's what the Rwanda plan is all about," Mr Cameron said.
