A State on the extreme side of NE India is on the boil.
Ethnic tensions are flaring up and in the cross-hairs are 3 tribes i.e Naga, Kuki, and Meiti.
Another tribe from a neighbouring country is also in the mix and is an important participant in all of these β¦The Chin-Kuki tribe from Myanmar having ethnic similarities to the Kuki tribe.
β¦ Last month, 7 student bodies and 19 tribal groups from Manipur submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister demanding NRC i.e National Register of Citizens, in the state.
They believe that NRC has become important in Manipur under present circumstances.

Overnight, three medium-intensity explosions rocked a bridge in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, causing damage. The blasts occurred close to Sapormeina along National Highway-2, linking Imphal to Dimapur in Nagaland. This incident unfolded just two days prior to the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, scheduled to take place in certain areas of Outer Manipur. According to a security official, the event transpired around 1:15 am near Sapormeina in Kangpokpi district.
