Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to visit the United Nations to address a high-level meeting of the 193-member General Assembly on the eve of the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion, a senior Foreign Ministry official said Friday.

Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov has backed India’s entry into the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as a permanent member, ahead of special events in the UNSC hosted by India on counter-terrorism and reformed multilateralism this week. Previously Lavrov while addressing the 77th United Nations General Assembly in September this year said that the Security Council will be more democratic if countries from Africa, Asia and Latin America are included.
