Rishi Sunak says it was "absolutely right" that Tory peer Baroness Michelle Mone was taking a leave of absence from the Lords following allegations linking her to a firm awarded contracts for personal protective equipment (PPE).
Speaking at Prime Minister’s Questions, Mr Sunak says he was "shocked" to read reports alleging that the peer and her children secretly received £29 million originating from the profits of the PPE firm - claims she has denied.

Rishi Sunak has arrived in Berlin where he is set to meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for talks on Wednesday. The topics of the meeting at the Chancellery will include mutual relations, the Russian war against Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East. The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has condemned the racist remarks allegedly made by a top Tory donor. According to the Guardian, Frank Hester, who has given £10m to the Tories in the past year, made racist comments about leftwing MP Diane Abbott at a meeting in 2019, including that she made him "want to hate all black women". Mr Khan said the comments were "clearly racist and despicable." There has been increasing pressure on the Conservatives to return the money donated by Mr Hester.
