Today, too many Angelenos have no choice but to crowd multiple families into one home, and to work multiple jobs just to barely pay rent, Karen Bass, LA Mayor, via CNN.

Tragically, our city has earned the shameful crown as being home to the most crowded neighborhoods in the nation – Pico Union, South L.A., East L.A., the East Valley.

, Karen Bass, LA Mayor, via CNN.

And Angelenos, we know our mission – we must build housing in every neighborhood, Karen Bass, LA Mayor, via CNN.

Billions of dollars of municipal funds on the state, county and local levels have been allocated to build housing structures that would help to alleviate the crisis.

However, construction and completion of the housing projects have been slow-moving.

According to recent data, homelessness in the city has risen nearly two percent since 2020.

Approximately 40,000 people live on the streets in LA.

For Bass, the first order of business will be to complete construction on 15,000 housing units by the end of her first year in office.

She also plans to end tent encampments, which have become common in LA.
