On January 10, thousands of Californians
were forced to flee their homes as severe
weather continued to batter the state.
NBC reports that the extreme weather
has left one dead, a child missing and
huge numbers of people without power.
Heavy rains were forecast to continue
as a fresh low-pressure system approached
the state as part of a "parade of cyclones.".
The endless onslaught
of potent systems with
atmospheric rivers of
moisture continue to
inundate California, The National Weather Service, via NBC.
NBC reports that the storms have
flooded homes, transformed roads
into rivers and overwhelmed cars.
According to Anita Konopa, an official with the San Luis
Obispo County Office of Emergency Services, one
person was killed when a vehicle was overtaken by water.

a child is missing after being swept away when
floodwaters overwhelmed a vehicle near Paso Robles.
Tony Coppola, a spokesman for the San Luis Obispo
County Sheriff's Office, said that extreme conditions
forced the search for the child to be called off.

as of January 10, over 232,000 residents
were without power across California.
