IndiaTimes Tuesday, 19 December 2023
India's GDP share of agriculture declined to 15% in 2022-23 from 35% in 1990-91 due to rapid growth in the industrial and service sector, according to Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda. The decline in agriculture's share was driven by the expansion of industrial and service sector GVA. Despite the decline, the agriculture sector has seen an average annual growth of 4% in the last five years. Globally, the share of agriculture in the world's GDP has also decreased to about 4% in recent years.
