16 killed as violence flares up on Bengal rural poll day

Murshidabad and three districts north of Murshidabad - Coochbehar, North Dinajpur and Malda - accounted for 13 of Saturday's 16 deaths, with five lives lost in Murshidabad alone. The casualties in Coochbehar, North Dinajpur and Malda were three, four and one, respectively. Three south Bengal districts - Nadia, East Burdwan and South 24 Parganas - saw one death apiece.
