Wednesday, 26 July 2023 Odisha (27.3%) has the highest dropout rate at secondary school level followed by Meghalaya (21.7%), Bihar (20.5%), and Assam (20.3%). While the all India dropout rate at this stage of schooling is 12.6%, states like West Bengal, Punjab, Nagaland, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh have dropout rates of over 15%. The figures were cited in the Rajya Sabha by the ministry of education.

Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
