In fragile Himalayas, Uttarakhand plans ski resorts, ropeways
Thursday, 28 September 2023 In what the government of Uttarakhand feels could lead to a major boost in the state's infrastructure - especially those involving the tourism sector - CM Pushkar Singh Dhami during a visit to London has signed MoUs worth Rs 8,000 crore with focus on the development of skiing destinations and ropeway projects. In all, MoUs worth Rs 11,000 crore have been inked with various companies.
The Indian Air Force deployed its MI 17 V5 helicopter on Saturday (April 27) to combat the forest fires ravaging the Nainital district in Uttarakhand, as confirmed by the stateβs Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami. Utilising a "Bambi Bucket," the helicopter retrieved water from Bhimtal Lake, situated near Nainital, and discharged it onto the flames engulfing the forests.
