Saturday, 28 October 2023 The Delhi High Court has asked for the Centre's response on a plea to allow the mother of a woman facing the death penalty in Yemen to travel to the country and negotiate with the victim's family. The woman, Nimisha Priya, has been sentenced to death for the murder of a Yemeni national. Justice Subramonium Prasad asked the Centre's counsel to file a status report within two weeks and listed the matter for further hearing on November 16. The Centre's counsel sought some time to take instructions and file the status report.

A spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) announced that the country's air defence units successfully shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone while it was conducting hostile activities over the central province of Bayda. Yahya Saree, in a televised statement on Tuesday, revealed that the unmanned aerial vehicle was targeted with a locally made surface-to-air missile. He added that footage of the shootdown would be released later.
