Tuesday, 31 October 2023 An off-duty J&K police head constable, Ghulam Mohammed Dar, was shot and killed by terrorists near his home in Kashmir's Baramulla district. Dar, who leaves behind his wife and seven daughters, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Security forces are conducting a manhunt for the terrorists. The increase in targeted attacks is believed to be linked to security operations against terrorist infiltration attempts from Pakistan before winter sets in.
Continuous heavy rainfall has battered numerous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, compelling the Union territory administration to take precautionary measures by closing schools across the Kashmir valley and Reasi district, as reported by officials. The persistent downpour in recent days has inflicted severe damage in various regions. Flash floods and landslides, triggered by the torrential rain, have affected parts of Poonch and northern Kashmir, resulting in damage to both public infrastructure and private property.
