Supreme Court won't study validity of corporate poll funds

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 31 October 2023
The Supreme Court of India has refused to examine the legality of corporate funding of political parties while considering the validity of electoral bonds. Petitioners argue that electoral bonds, which allow anonymous donations by big companies, give parties in power a financial advantage during elections. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing a petitioner, stated that corporate funding through electoral bonds is unrelated to the electoral process and allows parties to wield power in politics.
