Friday, 3 November 2023 External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has emphasized the need for more resilient supply chains in order to prevent disruptions like those caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Speaking at the Joint Secretary Session of the Senate's External Affairs and Defence Commission, Rome, the External Affairs Minister said, "It's important as market economies, as democratic societies, that we also cooperate among ourselves to build supply chains which are more predictable, which are more governed by rules, which are more stable, which are less political."
The Indian embassy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, advised Indian students to stay indoors amid reports of mob violence against international students. Recent violence escalated after footage of a brawl between Egyptian and Kyrgyz students surfaced. The Indian embassy is in communication with the students and provided a helpline.
