Tiffin box with 2kg IED planted on NH stretch in Jammu
Saturday, 4 November 2023 A major tragedy was averted on Saturday with the timely detection and destruction of a timer-based improvised explosive device (IED) that had been concealed in a tiffin box and planted along the Sidhra-Narwal stretch of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near a police checkpoint.
Continuous heavy rainfall has battered numerous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, compelling the Union territory administration to take precautionary measures by closing schools across the Kashmir valley and Reasi district, as reported by officials. The persistent downpour in recent days has inflicted severe damage in various regions. Flash floods and landslides, triggered by the torrential rain, have affected parts of Poonch and northern Kashmir, resulting in damage to both public infrastructure and private property.
