Tuesday, 7 November 2023 IPS officer Vidhi Kumar Birde has been appointed as IGP (Kashmir Zone) and will also hold the charge of the Armed Wing of J&K Police. ADGP (Kashmir Range) Vijay Kumar has been redesignated as ADGP (Law and Order), J&K. The Zonal IGPs of Kashmir and Jammu will report to ADGP (Law & Order), J&K, under the overall command and control of DGP, J&K. Anand Jain has been posted as IGP (Jammu Zone) after the deputation of ADGP (Jammu Range) Mukesh Kumar to New Delhi.
Continuous heavy rainfall has battered numerous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, compelling the Union territory administration to take precautionary measures by closing schools across the Kashmir valley and Reasi district, as reported by officials.
