IndiaTimes Thursday, 9 November 2023
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has frozen assets worth Rs 1.34 crore belonging to Amritpal Singh, a chargesheeted accused in a case related to the recovery of 102.784 kg heroin valued at around Rs 700 crore. The funds were identified as 'illegally acquired property' allegedly belonging to Amritpal. The NIA took this measure on November 8 after taking over the investigations from Indian Customs. The case involves the smuggling of heroin from Afghanistan into India through the Attari border. The cash seized from Amritpal's premises has been frozen under the NDPS Act.
