Thursday, 9 November 2023 The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has frozen assets worth Rs 1.34 crore belonging to Amritpal Singh, a chargesheeted accused in a case related to the recovery of 102.784 kg heroin valued at around Rs 700 crore. The funds were identified as 'illegally acquired property' allegedly belonging to Amritpal. The NIA took this measure on November 8 after taking over the investigations from Indian Customs. The case involves the smuggling of heroin from Afghanistan into India through the Attari border. The cash seized from Amritpal's premises has been frozen under the NDPS Act.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended two suspects - Mussavir Hussain Shazib and Abdul Matheen Taha - in connection with Bengaluru's Rameswaram Cafe blast case on Friday. The two were nabbed near West Bengal's Kolkata. Mussavir Hussain Shazib has been identified as the alleged "mastermind" behind the low-intensity blast that occurred at a prominent eatery in Bengaluru on March 1. Shazib is accused of placing the improvised explosive device (IED) at the cafe. Additionally, Abdul Matheen Taha is implicated as a co-conspirator in the incident. Both Taha and Shazib hail from Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district, according to statements from the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
