4 IITs in south shine in gender ratio as girls make up 26% of new entrants
Sunday, 12 November 2023 The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad zone has achieved the best gender ratio among all IIT campuses, with 26% of young women joining this year. This zone, which includes Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry, has seen a significant increase in the proportion of girls registering for IITs. The introduction of supernumerary female quota has contributed to a rise in the number of girls joining IITs, with the latest batch having more than tripled compared to 2017. IIT Delhi aims to achieve a 50:50 gender ratio on its campus.

Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. West Bengal recorded the highest turnout till 5 PM at 77.57 per cent, followed by Tripura at 76.10 per cent.
