4 IITs in south shine in gender ratio as girls make up 26% of new entrants
Sunday, 12 November 2023 () The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad zone has achieved the best gender ratio among all IIT campuses, with 26% of young women joining this year. This zone, which includes Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry, has seen a significant increase in the proportion of girls registering for IITs. The introduction of supernumerary female quota has contributed to a rise in the number of girls joining IITs, with the latest batch having more than tripled compared to 2017. IIT Delhi aims to achieve a 50:50 gender ratio on its campus.
