Notice served to 5 BRS MPs over privilege breach charges

IndiaTimes Monday, 13 November 2023
The Rajya Sabha secretariat has issued notices to five Members of Parliament from the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS), instructing them to address allegations of breaching privilege lodged against them by BJP MP Vivek Thakur. Thakur claimed that the BRS MPs demonstrated contempt for the House during the special session of Parliament in September by displaying placards, a violation of the Rules of Conduct of the House. Consequently, privilege notices have been served to BRS MPs K Keshav Rao, Kethi Reddy Suresh Reddy, Damodar Rao Divakonda, Vaddiraju Ravichandra, and Badugula Lingaiah Yadav.

LS Polls 2024: Congress manifesto launch | Priyanka Gandhi, Kharge slam BJP, Modi | Oneindia News

Top Congress leaders, including the party president Mallikarjun Kharge, former president Sonia Gandhi, held a rally in Jaipur on Saturday, April 6, to publicly launch its election manifesto 'Nyay Patra'. The Jaipur public rally comes a day after the Congress released its manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls promising a legal guarantee for MSP, and passing a constitutional amendment to raise the 50 per cent cap on reservations for SCs, STs and OBCs among others. The release of the manifesto 'Nyay Patra' was announced by Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, expressing happiness and pride in her mother Sonia Gandhi's presence in Rajasthan after becoming a member of the Rajya Sabha. Unemployment, claimed to be at its peak, was criticised, with allegations made against the BJP and Modi government for failing to address the issue adequately. The Agniveer scheme, accused of shattering people's hopes, was mentioned, along with concerns raised about leaked papers in various states and the ongoing protests by farmers, suggesting that PM Modi is unwilling to heed their grievances.
