EC issues notice to Arvind Kejriwal, Priyanka Gandhi over remarks on PM Modi
Tuesday, 14 November 2023 The election commission on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to Arvind Kejriwal and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for allegedly making "disparaging" and unverified remarks against PM Narendra Modi and violating the model code of conduct. The notice against the national convener of the AAP came after the BJP filed a complaint against him on November 10,2023, regarding two posts made on X that portrayed PM Modi in a "disparaging, insulting and defamatory manner". The posts were made from the official twitter handle of the Aam Aadmi Party.
The absence of Rahul Gandhi from Amethi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections raises questions about the advantage it might offer to Smriti Irani. While Priyanka Gandhi's extensive campaigning in the region may boost confidence for the Congress, Smriti Irani's consistent presence and active engagement in the constituency could tilt the balance in her favor.
