Caste scrutiny panel has no power to reopen its past decisions of granting caste certificates: High court
The Bombay High Court has ruled that the state Caste Scrutiny Committee does not have the power to review its own decisions and invalidate caste validity certificates. The court stated that granting such power would lead to uncertainty and arbitrariness. The High Court allowed 10 petitions filed by government employees whose caste certificates were invalidated by the committee. The court emphasized that the committee cannot reopen concluded cases without a prima facie satisfaction of the court.
