Trying to rescue pet cat, Kolkata woman falls 8 floors to death

A 33-year-old Kolkata woman, Anjana Das, fell to her death while trying to rescue her pet kitten from a narrow concrete awning in her rented home in Tollygunge neighbourhood. Her blood-splattered body was found between two buildings on Lake Avenue Road. Anjana was declared brought dead at a nearby hospital. The kitten, however, was unharmed. Anjana had recently adopted a cat that gave birth to a litter of three. She lived in the apartment with her elderly mother as their ancestral property was undergoing renovation.
