EC lifts model code of conduct from five states with immediate effect

IndiaTimes Monday, 4 December 2023
The Election Commission of India lifted the model code of conduct as the assembly elections in five states concluded. The Congress swept Telangana, while the Bharatiya Janata Party won in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. Mizoram was won by the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM). The election results in four states, especially the losses in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, came as a huge blow to the Congress's hopes for 2024. Assembly elections were held last month, with millions of people registered to vote.
