Terrorists shoot at off-duty cop in Srinagar, 3rd attack since October
Saturday, 9 December 2023 Terrorists targeted J&K police constable Hafiz Ahmad in Srinagar, raising concerns about the safety of law enforcement personnel in the region. Ahmad was shot in the abdomen and right arm while walking home after duty. The area has been cordoned off as security forces search for the assailants. Basit Dar is believed to be one of the terrorists moving around in Srinagar. Previously, constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar was killed in another attack in Baramulla district.
Continuous heavy rainfall has battered numerous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, compelling the Union territory administration to take precautionary measures by closing schools across the Kashmir valley and Reasi district, as reported by officials. The persistent downpour in recent days has inflicted severe damage in various regions. Flash floods and landslides, triggered by the torrential rain, have affected parts of Poonch and northern Kashmir, resulting in damage to both public infrastructure and private property.
