YS Sharmila may join Congress in January, campaign in AP during polls
Wednesday, 13 December 2023 YS Sharmila, president of YSR Telangana Party, is likely to merge her party with Congress in January 2024. She may be given a key position in the party central leadership and an active role in Andhra Pradesh during the state assembly and Lok Sabha polls. This merger would directly pit a member of the YSR family against YSRCP led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The initial merger talks with Congress will resume in December. Sharmila has agreed to be the general secretary of AICC and campaign for Congress in Andhra Pradesh's 2024 general elections.
