Bilkis Bano case: 3 convicts move SC seeking more time to surrender
Three convicts implicated in gangrape of Bilkis Bano and the murder of seven members of her family during the Gujarat riots in 2002 filed a petition with the Supreme Court on Thursday, requesting an extension of time to surrender. The supreme court, on January 8, had dismissed Gujarat government's decision to award remission to 11 prisoners in the case. It had asked all the convicts to surrender before the jail authorities in two weeks. Bilkis was 21 years old and five months pregnant when she was gang raped, and her three-year-old daughter was one of the 14 family members slaughtered.
