No North Korean defectors in China, foreign ministry says

China's foreign ministry has denied reports that it deported around 600 North Korean defectors this week. A spokesperson stated that China does not have any "so-called defectors" and that it handles the issue of people from North Korea who enter illegally according to the law. South Korea's foreign ministry said it was working to verify the reports and would continue diplomatic efforts to protect North Korean defectors.
