The second phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh on April 26 holds high stakes for several prominent faces, including actress Hema Malini, actor Arun Govil, and former BSP leader Danish Ali. In the eight constituencies going to polls – Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, and Mathura – unemployment has emerged as a major concern, with youth expressing anger over recruitment exam paper leaks and lack of job opportunities. The BJP had won seven of these seats in 2019, with Amroha being the lone exception, where Danish Ali had emerged victorious on a joint BSP-SP-RLD ticket. Oneindia brings you special reports.

The constituency, comprising Siwalkhas, Chhaprauli, Baraut, Baghpat, and Modi Nagar Assembly segments, witnesses a clash of regional parties vying for electoral supremacy.
Sagwan is known for his connect with grassroots politics and was involved in student and farmer politics. He was associated with several agitations. He claims to have joined politics after being “inspired by Chaudhary Charan Singh”.
