Bombay HC seeks data on cases against elected representatives

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 25 October 2023
The Bombay High Court has requested a list of criminal prosecutions that were withdrawn against MPs and MLAs between September 2020 and August 2021. The court is examining whether these withdrawals were done legally. The request comes as part of a suo motu petition to ensure compliance with a Supreme Court ruling on expediting criminal trials against elected representatives. The High Court has also asked for a list of pending trials and cases where withdrawal was proposed. The matter will be heard again on December 11.
