Ex-IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt gets bail in fabrication of evidence case
Former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt has been granted regular bail by a city sessions court in connection with charges of fabricating evidence to frame Prime Minister Narendra Modi and 62 others in the post-Godhra riots of 2002. Bhatt, along with social activist Teesta Setalvad and retired DGP RB Sreekumar, was booked in the case on June 25, 2022. Bhatt's incarceration is expected to continue due to his involvement in a 1996 NDPS case, where the trial is in its final stage, and he also faces life imprisonment in a 1990 custodial death case in Jamjodhpur.
