Kolkata was swept up in Kohli mania as fans chanted the Indian cricketer's name during the India vs South Africa match at Eden Gardens. Kohli celebrated his birthday by scoring his 49th ODI century, equaling Sachin Tendulkar's record. Fans flocked to the stadium wearing Kohli jerseys and cut-outs of the player were displayed along the fence. Kolkata CM Mamata Banerjee also wished Kohli on his birthday. Demand for Kohli's jersey number 18 has surged in the city, with sellers reporting high sales.
