Youths from IB areas in J&K eligible for reservation in govt jobs: Jitendra Singh
Wednesday, 8 July 2020 Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Wednesday that youths from the International Border (IB) areas in Jammu and Kashmir are eligible to avail the benefits of reservation applicable for them in government employment.
Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, young daughters and sisters from northeastern states on August 02 tied rakhi to jawans who serve in border areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. It was an expression of their solidarity, love and gratitude towards Indian Armed personnel.
The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region, Jitendra Singh took a review meeting through interactive video conferencing."In this meeting, we specially talked about post COVID-19 economy, bamboo is going to play an important role in post COVID-19 economy of India," Jitendra Singh said. Bamboo has made a contribution in sustaining the rural economy in North Eastern states of the country.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh launched the restructured Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2020 scheme and web portal on July 17. In the first meeting of the National Ganga Council on December 14, 2019, at Kanpur under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was decided to create a "Good performance for Ganga Rejuvenation" award for the Ganga districts under this scheme. While addressing the meeting, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the Mantra of "Maximum Governance, Minimum Government" is incomplete without citizen participation and citizen centricity. Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Director General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has also reached out to the Chief Secretaries of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. The award has been scheduled to be distributed on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on October 31st, 2020
Former Union minister Manoj Sinha was on Friday was sworn in as the new lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, the first political leader to take charge of the union territory. The 61-year-old, who is known for his connect with people, particularly in rural areas, was administered the oath of office by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Justice Gita Mittal at a simple function in the Raj Bhavan. "August 5 is a very important day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. After years of isolation, Jammu and Kashmir joined the national mainstream. I have been told that many works that could not be completed in years have been completed in the past one year," Sinha told reporters after taking oath. "I want to accelerate that development," he added. Sinha succeeds former IAS officer Girish Chandra Murmu, who resigned on Wednesday night and was appointed Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on Thursday.

The Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers are on high alert at the international border with Pakistan in Jammu region. The soldiers are doing their routine patrolling with promptness to stop any infiltration activity from the Pakistani side. The neighbouring country continuously tries to infiltrate the terrorists inside Indian borders. Irrespective of seasons, these BSF soldiers guard the borders for the country by risking their lives. They are vigilant about any activity in the air, on the ground and also underground tunnels. BSF Jawans say they are alert 24x7 and 365 days to guard the borders and are ready for any challenge. The BSF Jawans are also vigilant about the drones as Pakistan has attempted many unsuccessful bids using drones for the infiltration and spying into Indian territory. A Pakistani drone, loaded with a sophisticated rifle and some grenades, was shot down by the BSF along the International Border in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on June 21. Pakistan is also sending illegal consignments of narcotics and drugs and is also indulged in infiltrating terrorist ranks.
