Weapons supervisor convicted in fatal shooting on Alec Baldwin film set freed from jail
Saturday, 24 May 2025 () A weapons supervisor who was jailed for involuntary manslaughter over the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins on the set of the Alec Baldwin movie, Rust, has been freed.
'Rust' writer-director Joel Souza has complicated thoughts on his creation, and he says he has "no relationship" with the film's star Alec Baldwin. After several years and an enormous tragedy, 'Rust' will finally be released. Back in 2021, the movie's cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died after she was accidentally shot on set by Baldwin. After much debate, Souza and the cast and crew returned to finish the film. But, quite naturally, Souza says he wishes he never made the film in the first place.
