BJP and long-standing ally Akali Dal parted ways for Delhi polls. Akali Dal leader Manjinder Sirsa made the announcement on Jan 20. Sirsa said that BJP was trying to urge Akali Dal to change stance on CAA.
Chirag Paswan sought a temple in honour of Hindu goddess Sita in Bihar's Sitamarhi. He said that the Sita temple should be more grand than the Ram temple currently under construction in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya. The Lok Janshakti Party chief made the comments while offering prayers at Punaura Dham. He also pitched for a 'corridor' between the Ram temple and the proposed Sita temple. The comments came ahead of Assembly elections in Bihar in which Paswan's LJP is fighting alone and not as part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by BJP and JD(U). Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh handed over to Governor the resolution passed against Centre’s farm laws. Singh said he doesn’t care if President’s rule is imposed or if his government is sacked. Punjab Assembly had passed four bills and a resolution against the Centre’s farm laws. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Harpal Singh Cheema and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sharan Jit Singh Dhillon on October 20 handed over to Governor VP Singh Badnore the resolution against Farm Laws passed in the state assembly. Speaking to media, CM Amarinder Singh said, "Punjab's voice has reached the Governor, he will pass it on to the President. I don't care about President's Rule. You want to sack my government? Sack my government, I don't give a damn." "I am doing this for farmers of the state and the country," he added.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal visited Golden Temple in Amritsar on October 01. Badal led Kisan March rally from here today. The march, which also began from Sri Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo and Sri Keshgarh Sahib at Anandpur Sahib and will conclude in Mohali. Sukhbir Singh Badal, "We'll give a memorandum to the Governor, with a request to Centre and President that Parliament session should be called again and Farm Laws be taken back."
Delhi reported 4,086 fresh cases on Friday, its highest spike in 35 days. Except on October 19, the capital has been reporting over 3,000 cases daily for the last 10 days, sparking concerns of a second wave as the festive season sets in. A group of 11 major opposition parties in Pakistan have joined hands to raise their protest against the ruling Prime Minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). A large number of people gathered in Gujranwala city of Punjab Province for a massive opposition rally on Friday. The government even blocked the roads to Gujranwala to flog the opposition rally. On September 20, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was formed by 11 opposition parties to launch a three-phased anti-government movement under an "action plan". It includes countrywide public meetings, protest demonstrations and rallies followed by a 'decisive long march' towards Islamabad in January 2021. Opposition leaders are also seeking no-confidence motions and mass resignations from Parliament for 'the selected' prime minister's resignation. Opposition parties have accused Pakistan Army of rigging the 2018 elections that brought Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf party to power.
