Saturday, 1 August 2020 Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Nagaland and Uttarakhand have joined the 'One Nation-One Ration Card' scheme, taking the total number of states and union territories connected under the scheme to 24, food minister Ram Vilas Paswan said on Saturday.Remaining states/UTs are targeted to be integrated in national portability by March 2021, he added.
A food delivery startup called Tiffin Aaw in Srinagar has started the campaign 'Food for Kashmir' on social media. They have taken it upon themselves to deliver free meals for Covid positive families, Covid warriors and people in need. The concept was started when the owner Rayees Ahmad got a lot of distress calls from people outside Kashmir, wanting food to be delivered to their Covid-hit parents.

Three terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on May 6. The security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Kanigam area of the South Kashmir district during the night following information about the presence of terrorists. An official said as the presence of four newly recruited terrorists of Al-Badr outfit got ascertained, the security forces exercised maximum restraint and tried their best to persuade them to surrender. The terrorists turned down the offer to surrender and opened fire. However, one terrorist identified as Tausif Ahmad surrendered. Watch the full video for more.

The second wave of COVID has ravaged the country and the cases are continuously increasing in Jammu and Kashmir as well. Amid the devastation, DRDO in association with JandK administration started construction of 500-bedded COVID hospital in Budgam. All beds will be supported with supply of medical oxygen. There will be 125 fully-equipped ICU beds for COVID patients and 50-double room accommodation facility for doctors and paramedics staff. Locals appreciated this step of govt and extended full support towards it.
In the view of increasing trends in COVID-19 cases in Manipur, state government has imposed curfew in seven districts till May 17th to check the spread of COVID-19. Speaking to ANI, Imphal West SP K Meghachandra Singh said that district administrations are restricting opening of shops and other business enterprises. "Only permitted vehicles and persons are allowed to move and as per the order of government, we are restricting opening of shops and other business enterprises. Only essential items and wholesale markets are open in addition to pharmacy and medical facilities," said Imphal West SP.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh handed over 15 basic life support ambulances to Health department on April 24. The ceremony was held at the western gate of Chief Minister's Secretariat. The ambulances were donated by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL). Ambulances are fully equipped with oxygen cylinders.
Two militants belonging to the banned NLFT (National Liberation Front of Tripura) organisation surrendered with arms and ammunition before the police on April 15 in Dharmanagar of North Tripura district. Both the militants wanted in various cases have been identified as Joseph Jamatia and Uttam Kishore Jamatia and deposited three factory made pistols, magazines and ammunition to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) L Darlong in presence of Superintendent of Police (SP) North Tripura district Bhanupada Chakraborty who played an important role in convincing them to come back to normal life. The militants were trained in Bangladesh and were living in Nagaland.
The RCC T-Beam Bridge over Dhansiri River, Dimapur connecting the main town area was inaugurated by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on April 13. CM Rio congratulated the department, the engineering wing and the contractor for successful completion of the project. The bridge was constructed by Aien Meren Enterprises and funded under the 10% Lumpsum Scheme, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.

The program was organized to condemn the brutal murder of three Zeliangrong civilians in a broad daylight by unidentified assailants on March 22 at Lamhainamdi village of Peren District in Nagaland Nagaland. The Union has submitted a Memorandum to the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, Governor of Nagaland, and Chief Minister of Nagaland for further necessary action to ensure speedy justice on the matter. "The dreadful day of March 22nd, 2021 would be remembered as a Black Day in the history of the Zeliangrong people. It is most unfortunate that the Zeliangrong people are facing the threat of various kinds in the land that has been rightfully called their home-land since time immemorial", press release issued by the organizations stated.
A cloudburst was reported on May 03 in Uttarakhand. The cloudburst hit Saini Tok area of Narkota village in Rudraprayag. Several houses and roads were damaged due following the incident. Although, no casualties have been reported. Police and relief team are at the spot. More details are awaited.
Health Secretary of Uttarakhand, Amit Negi, on May 03 informed that the COVID-19 active cases in the state has crossed 50,000 mark, and today we will get around 2 lakh vaccine doses from the Central government. "We will also get 1,20,000 vaccines doses on May 04," added.
