Bihar's Darbhanga Airport to get flight connectivity with Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru
Wednesday, 9 September 2020 () Airports Authority of India (AAI) is developing the civil enclave at Darbhanga for the commencement of civil flight operations for Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS).
The workers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gheraoed Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Sushil Modi, outside the party office in Patna over the candidature of Lakhisarai constituency for the upcoming state assembly elections. BJP workers and supporters pressed for a local candidate of Lakhisarai constituency, "Candidate should be local. Kumari Babita, working with us for last 25 years, should be made the candidate." They demanded cancellation of sitting MLA Vijay Sinha's candidature. Sushil Modi later left with Police's help.The elections in the state will be held in 3 phases on October 28, November 3 and 7, and counting of votes will take place on November 10.
Former Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey joined the JD(U) on September 27 at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's residence in Patna on September 27. Pandey recently took VRS from the services of DGP of Bihar. Gupteshwar Pandey said, "This is his affection; he himself called me at his residence and made me join the party. This is a moment of happiness for me. He is our leader, whatever he will direct, will do the same."
Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee continued their 'rail roko' agitation in Amritsar, in protest against the new farm bills passed in Parliament. They staged their protest at Devidaspura village by blocking Delhi-Amritsar rail track. The farmers' union had earlier planned their protest for three days from Sep 24-26, but said they will not end the agitation until Modi government take these bills back. Farmers mainly in Punjab, Haryana fear new farm Bills will result into their exploitation by big corporates.
A para-cycling rally organised by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has reached Rajasthan's Jaipur on September 26. The para-cycling rally started from Gujarat's Sabarmati Ashram on September 17. It will culminate at Raj Ghat in Delhi on October 02 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Around 24 members are participating in para-cycling rally including 6 women. Speaking to ANI, a CRPF commandant said, "The para-cycling rally started from Sabarmati Ashram on September 17 and will culminate at Raj Ghat in Delhi on October 02."
Congress lashed out at the Modi government in the Rajya Sabha over its plans to privatise airports in the country. Congress MP KC Venugopal hit out at the Centre over the airport privatisation drive in which 6 airports have been handed out to the Adani Group. He alleged that norms were twisted to favour the group and said that this is nothing but a scam in the garb of the PPP model. He alleged that the government is spreading the red carpet for monopolization of airports. ‘Adani group has won bids to operate and develop 6 airports. There's clear violation of norms in giving airports to a single private entity. The government ignored advice of some of its own ministries and departments. Changes in the norms were enabled for Adani Group to win all 6 bids,’ Venugopal said. BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao hit back at Venugopal and said that the Modi government wants the aviation sector to be accessible, safe and affordable for all sections and not just the rich. He added that the aviation sector had grown tremendously under the Modi government and added that India has the fastest growing aviation sector in the world. Watch the full video for all the details.

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal for leasing out airports at Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram through public-private partnership (PPP) for a period of 50 years. Adani Enterprises had won the rights to run six airports including these three -- the other three being Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Mangalore -- through the PPP model after a competitive bidding process in February 2019. At a press conference after a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said the Cabinet has approved the proposal for leasing out Jaipur, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram airports through the PPP model."The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is not giving these airports permanently to the private operator. After running them for 50 years, the private operator would be handing over the airports back to the AAI," said the minister. Watch the full video for more details.
