In a bizarre incident, a man was found treating people in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha on his father's degree. He had set up a temporary hospital under a tree shed. Numbers of patients were found lying on 'charpai' with drip instilled. Abdul Karim on camera accepted that he does not have any degree and he is working on his father's degree.
A groom in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district, where he was on his way to his wedding function, was found COVID positive after police stopped the baraat and conducted rapid antigen tests of the passengers. Groom's car driver also tested positive for coronavirus. Police has registered a case and has also booked the family of bride for organising the function despite strict guidelines in place due to COVID-19. The groom was later sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Terming coronavirus as a big health crisis before humanity, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday said the only way to break the chain of transmission and contain COVID-19 cases is for people to "close down everything" till May 15. Chouhan also announced providing free treatment for COVID-19 for patients from poor financial background, common citizens and middle class population in Madhya Pradesh, an official of the state's public relations department said. To break the chain of transmission of coronavirus in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on May 06 announced a strict lockdown (Janta Curfew) in the state till May 15. "To break the chain of transmission of corona in the state we have to completely shut everything till May 15, strict 'Janta Curfew'. We can't shut things for too long but with more than 18 % positivity we can't remain open," said CM Shivraj.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on May 05 announced that 9 lakh people will be vaccinated in Madhya Pradesh this month. "The vaccination drive for 18-44 years age group has begun from today in Madhya Pradesh. We'll increase the drive from tomorrow. We'll vaccinate 9 lakh people this month. Till 15 May, 1.5 lakh doses will be given," said CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Bihar reported 11,407 cases on Monday taking the number of active cases to 107,667.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on April 28 said the state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has approved around Rs 6,500 crore to provide free vaccination for people between 18-44 years in the state. Tope explained that the state has nearly 5.71 crore people in the above mentioned age group and thus the state would require 12 crore doses for their vaccination. The third phase of vaccination, covering people aged 18-44 years, will start from May 01 even as several states have expressed concerns over availability of vaccines.
BJP MLA in Uttar Pradesh's Bairia, Surendra Singh, suggested people to drink 'gaumutra' (cow urine) to defeat COVID-19. While demonstrating on camera, Surendra Singh said that drinking 5 caps of Patanjali's Godhan Ark in a glass of cold water is his everyday morning routine. "I don't know the scientific reason behind it, but it has helped me. I stay amongst people for 18 hours but still I am fine. So I am sending across my experiences, and I want to show that I also drink." Godhan Ark is an ancient Ayurvedic medicine made by extracting the goodness from gomutra or cow urine.
COVID cases in Uttar Pradesh continue to rise and as a consequence of it, lockdown has been extended in the state. However, a huge crowd was seen at a market in UP's Kanpur on May 08. Locals went to market due to limited time allotted for essential shops to open and they didn't follow COVID SOPs there. Lockdown has been extended till May 10 in the state.
IAF continues its efforts towards Covid relief as India fights a devastating second wave. IAF IL-76 aircraft airlifted 3 cryogenic oxygen containers from Singapore on Saturday. As per official statement, the oxygen tankers landed at Panagarh Air base, West Bengal. An IAF C-17 is also bringing 3 oxygen containers & 3 pallets of respirators from Israel. The IAF aircraft will reach Hindan Air base in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, IAF aircraft are already ferrying oxygen tankers within the country. With over 4.1 lakh new cases, India again reported highest single-day spike on Thursday.

24 states including Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal have more than 15% positivity rate for COVID-19 in their daily infections, informed Union Health Ministry. "Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Haryana and Bihar have a high caseload," said Arti Ahuja, Additional Secretary (Health) while addressing a press conference in Delhi.
