Growth indicator: Night lights up 43% in 10 yrs; 400% in some states
Sunday, 29 January 2023 Decadal Change of Night Time Light over India from Space (2012-2021), released by Isro’s National Remote Sensing Centre — shows that overall at the national level, normalised NTL radiance increased by 43% in 2021 compared to 2012. Significant increase was observed in Bihar (474%), Manipur (441%), Ladakh (280%) and Kerala (119%), while good increase was observed in Arunachal Pradesh (66%), MP (66%), UP (61%) and Gujarat (58%).
Astronomers Find Evidence , That Black Holes
May Be the Source , of Dark Energy.
Space.com reports that a team of 17 international
researchers led by the University of Hawaii have
discovered the first evidence of the source of dark energy.
According to the team,
dark energy may
originate in black holes. .
Researchers suggest that older black holes
are acquiring mass through a form of
dark energy known as "vacuum energy.".
According to the team, vacuum energy is , "a kind of energy included in spacetime itself ... [that] pushes
the universe further apart, accelerating the expansion." .
If the theory holds,
then this is going to
revolutionize the whole
of cosmology, , Dr. Chris Pearson, STFC RAL Space,
Co-author of the study, via Space.com.
... because at last we've got a solution
for the origin of dark energy that's
been perplexing cosmologists
and theoretical physicists
for more than 20 years. , Dr. Chris Pearson, STFC RAL Space,
Co-author of the study, via Space.com.
Space.com reports that this is the first time that
astronomers have obtained observational data to
support the theory, which was first proposed by Einstein.
We're really saying two things at once:
That there's evidence the typical black hole
solutions don't work for you on a long, long
timescale, and we have the first proposed
astrophysical source for dark energy, Duncan Farrah, University of Hawaii
astronomer, study author, via Space.com.
The team's results were published in
'The Astrophysical Journal Letters' on February 15

Scientists Are Stunned , as a Piece of the Sun Breaks Off.
'New York Post' reports that scientists
were recently baffled after watching
material break off of the Sun's surface. .
The remarkable phenomenon, which created a tornado-like
swirl around the Sun's northern pole, was captured
by NASA on the James Webb Space Telescope.
Material from a northern prominence
just broke away from the main filament
& is now circulating in a massive polar
vortex around the north pole of our Star, Dr. Tamitha Skov, space weather forecaster, via Twitter.

'New York Post' reports that a prominence
is a large, bright feature that extends
out from the surface of the Sun. .
According to Scott McIntosh, the deputy director at
the National Center for Atmospheric Research,
researchers do not know the cause of the unique event.
Once every solar cycle, it forms
at the 55-degree latitude and it
starts to march up to the solar poles.
It’s very curious. There is a big
‘why’ question around it. , Scott McIntosh, deputy director at the National Center
for Atmospheric Research, via 'New York Post'.
Why does it only move toward the pole
one time and then disappear and then come
back, magically, three or four years later
in exactly the same region?, Scott McIntosh, deputy director at the National Center
for Atmospheric Research, via 'New York Post'.
'New York Post' reports that some
experts suggest it has something
to do with the Sun's magnetic field.
Solar projections can disrupt
GPS systems, power grids
and even radio signals.
According to Space.com, the Sun has already shot multiple
"powerful" flares at the Earth this month as it approaches
peak activity for its current 11-year cycle in 2025

Few days back, the BJP-backed Manipur government had decided to withdraw from an agreement with two tribal militant groups, alleging that they were “influencing agitation among forest encroachers”. This withdrawal was from the tripartite Suspension of Operation agreement between the Government of India, the Manipur government, and the two umbrella groups of Kuki militants…which are the Kuki National Army and Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA). The revocation of this agreement has now raised several questions as Home minister Amit Shah, ahead of the last year’s assembly elections, had promised to “solve” the Kuki issue if the BJP was voted to power. After this, the Kuki groups had officially announced their support for the BJP. In this video, we take a look at this so called Suspension of Operation agreement…and briefly trace the roots of the Kuki insurgency. But before that, don’t forget to like, share and subscribe to Oneindia.
