Blow to Haryana govt: HC stays graft probes entrusted to ex-CBI officers

The Punjab and Haryana high court has ordered the withdrawal of investigations conducted by former CBI cops engaged on a contract basis as SP/DSPs in the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau. The court also stated that the charge-sheets filed by these officers shall not proceed any further. The court questioned the legality of engaging police officers on a contract basis and their authority to conduct investigations and file final reports. This decision will have significant implications for corruption cases being investigated by these officers.
