Supreme Court questions governor's authority in Tamil Nadu bill approval delay
Monday, 20 November 2023 () The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on the Tamil Nadu government's petition regarding the delay in approving Bills passed by the state Assembly. The court acknowledged that the Assembly has reapproved 10 Bills that were previously sent back by the governor. The court raised questions about the governor's authority to withhold Bills without returning them to the Assembly or the president. The governor's delay in giving assent to the Bills has been described as a "matter of serious concern." The issue will be resolved on December 1.
