Wide-sweeping changes proposed to H-1B visa programme to curb fraud

IndiaTimes Saturday, 21 October 2023
US agencies overseeing immigration policies have proposed changes to the H-1B visa programme. The changes include amending the selection process to combat fraud, redefining what qualifies as a specialty occupation, and allowing startup founders to sponsor their work visas. The proposals aim to curb gaming of the lottery-selection process and may result in an increase in requests for evidence during application processing. Additionally, there is a proposal to make it easier for foreign nationals to be sponsored by a company they own. The proposals will be open for public comments before finalization and implementation.
