Saving Brazil's golden monkey, one green corridor at a time

IndiaTimes Saturday, 11 November 2023
Young people in Rio de Janeiro planted tree seedlings to create a safe passageway for the endangered golden lion tamarin. The initiative aims to connect patches of forest that have been destroyed by deforestation. The Atlantic Forest, where the tamarin is found, has been reduced to just 2% of its original size. Efforts to save the species have been successful, with the population now at around 4,800 individuals. However, maintaining and expanding the habitat requires significant resources.
