Wabash man dies weeks after killing son with knife, shoots police officer

The man accused of killing his son and shooting a police officer who responded to the 911 call dies over the weekend, authorities announced Monday.

An update now on a stabbing that happened earlier this month involving a father and son..we've learned the details about what happened october 8th leading to the death of a ten year old.fox 55's jentill neal has more.

William sendelbach will not face trial for killing his 10- year-old son cayden.

Indiana state police say the 32-year-old man died saturday after he was shot by wabash police during a shootout at his home on october 8th.

> 16:38:47-16:39"there were a lot of moving parts as it relates to a shooting a police officer, stabbing of a ten year old boy, and also william sendelbach is alleged to have shot at a trash truck as it was conducting it's rounds that morning, and also having shot at an empty vehicle which was owned by one of his neighbors."investigators say sarah sendelbach found her son stabbed in the head.

She and her other children ran to a neighbor's apartment where they called police.officers say sendelbach fired at them when they arrived ... hitting sgt.

.>16:36:00-16:36:32"officers returned fire and on that day we believe on saturday, william sendelbach did die from injuries sustained from gunfire from the wabash police police department."

Now that he's dead, police say the investigation is closed, but they are still working with the family.16:39:53-16:40:10 "with william sendelbach's death, that part of the situation is over.
