As COVID-19 cases spread across India like wildfire, several politicos on April 16 tested positive. Congress leaders Digvijaya Singh, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Shiromani Akali Dal MP from Bathinda Harsimrat Kaur Badal, an independent MLA from Vadgam Assembly Constituency Jignesh Mevani have tested positive for COVID-19. The leaders urged people who were in their contact to get tested. Country reported highest ever spike of over 2.17 lakh COVID-19 cases on April 16.
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar demanded apology from few political leaders after Batla house verdict. Javadekar demanded apology from Sonia Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal and Mamata Banerjee. "Sonia Ji, Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee and Digvijaya Singh had raised questions on the police action. And, in a way, they sided with the terrorists. I demand that they should apologise to the nation," Javadekar said. A Delhi court ordered death penalty to Ariz Khan in Batla house encounter. The court imposed a fine of Rs 11 lakh in its order on March 15. The court called the case as ‘rarest of rare case’. Ariz was convicted on March 8 for murder of a Delhi police inspector. The court held Ariz guilty of murder in 2008 Balta house encounter. Ariz was arrested by special cell in February 2018. Watch the full video for more.

Terming coronavirus as a big health crisis before humanity, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday said the only way to break the chain of transmission and contain COVID-19 cases is for people to "close down everything" till May 15. Chouhan also announced providing free treatment for COVID-19 for patients from poor financial background, common citizens and middle class population in Madhya Pradesh, an official of the state's public relations department said. To break the chain of transmission of coronavirus in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on May 06 announced a strict lockdown (Janta Curfew) in the state till May 15. "To break the chain of transmission of corona in the state we have to completely shut everything till May 15, strict 'Janta Curfew'. We can't shut things for too long but with more than 18 % positivity we can't remain open," said CM Shivraj.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on May 07 criticised the central government for going ahead with the central vista project, amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
