The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has said that Kamal Haasan's film Thug Life won't release in Karnataka if the actor does not tender an apology for his "Kannada born out of Tamil" remark. Ram Gopal Varma backed the Tamil superstar, but later deleted his post.
