India, Russia begin 'new era' of cooperation to make Indo-Pacific 'open, free, inclusive': PM Modi
Thursday, 5 September 2019 Addressing the plenary session of the 5th Eastern Economic Forum here, Modi said, "When ships will start plying between Vladivostok and Chennai with the opening of the maritime routes between the two cities, the Russian port city will become the springboard of northeast asia market in India. This will further deepen the Indo-Russia partnership."

Informing about the weather update, Deputy Director General of Meteorology, IMD (Chennai) Dr S Balachandran, said moderate rainfall is expected in next 48 hours in Tamil Nadu. "During last 24 hours, fairly widespread rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry region. Next 48 hours over Tamil Nadu light to moderate rainfall is expected. "While, North Tamil Nadu and some interior districts of TN will receive heavy rains," he added.
The transgender members of a Chennai-based non-government organisation (NGO) have joined hands with Chennai Corporation to conduct coronavirus awareness campaign in slum areas of Teynampet, Chennai. Sahodaran, an NGO in collaboration with the Chennai Corporation, has started an awareness campaign to aware the people living in the slum areas of Teynampet about COVID-19. The transgender activists held placards giving messages regarding the virus. They also held 'door to door campaign' in the areas about wearing a mask, using sanitizers and maintaining social distancing as a part of their campaign.
